Finally.
Twitter has confirmed that it is working on an edit button.
It’s a function that many users have asked Twitter for and now the social media giant said it would start testing out the idea in the next few months.
The poll @TwitterComms mentioned likely referred to the one Tesla boss Elon Musk asked his followers on earlier this week, if they wanted an edit button for Twitter with the answers misspelt.
The edit function is one of Twitter’s most asked features.
But Jay Sullivan, Twitter’s Head of Consumer Product said there were concerns that the edit feature could be “misused to alter the record of the public conversation”.
In a time where misinformation is rift, this concern is not misplaced.
Sullivan said that’s why the team will approach this feature with “care and thoughtfulness”.
The edit button will likely be rolled out first for Twitter Blue users and subsequently for everyone else.
In the meantime though, Twitter has added other nifty functions you could play around with – like recording your own gifs directly from your phone’s camera.
The function acts like Instagram’s Boomerang, allowing users to loop their short clips and attach them to their tweets.
Unfortunately it seems like you can’t save your gif after you upload it.
Right now, the feature is only available for iOS phones, with no word on when it’ll roll out to Android users.
This is among the latest updates Twitter has rolled out for the microblogging platform this year – including shops and NFTs.
