Latest Expansion For World Of Warcraft To Feature Dragons, Dragonriding

Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled its latest Dragon-themed expansion for World of Warcraft.

Dragonflight centres on the Dragon Aspects of Azeroth, who return to their ancestral home – the Dragon Isles.

This is World of Warcraft’s ninth expansion since it was released almost 20 years ago and the latest instalment introduces the Dracthyr – a new playable Draconid Humanoid race, and a new class Evoker (which can only be accessed by the new race).

Dracthyr characters can also join either the Alliance or the Horde and will specialise in ranged attacks or as a healer.

The Dragon Isles will be made up of four zones and features Dragonriding, which according to developers, is an “all-new skill-based method of aerial movement that allows players to take to the skies on the back of their personal Dragon Isles Drake.”

Drakes can also be customised as the player progresses in the game.

The studio is digging deep into WoW’s rich lore for Dragonflight – Blizzard’s last two expansions for the series, Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands – have been criticised as excessively complicated with extremely weak plots

Blizzard also said Dragonflight will see changes to the game’s talent system, tweaks to Warcraft’s crafting system and user interface, allowing players to customise their UI to their liking.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight does not have a definite release date yet but you can sign up for the beta before it’s released here

Blizzard will also re-release Wrath of the Lich King (2008) for World of Warcraft Classic later this year.
