Here Are (Most Of) The Highlights From PlayStation’s State Of Play This Month

A new month and a new State of Play from PlayStation.

Unfortunately, we did not get any updates or announcements about Project Spartacus.

But we did get about 20 minutes of trailers for new games and/or games we already knew about. Here were some of the highlights:

Exoprimal is a first-person shooter, multiplayer game by Capcom that…featured dinosaurs dropping from the sky.

That’s it, that’s the whole game.

The wildly anticipated Ghostwire: Tokyo also showed off a new trailer and more details about the plot.

The game drops on 25 March but only as a PS5 and PC exclusive for now.

A release date was also announced for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins, an action-focused reimagining of the first FF game.

A free demo is currently available for the PS4 and PS5 ahead of the game’s launch on 18 March and PlayStation said your save data can be carried over to the main game.

Meanwhile, Square Enix also showed off more slick gameplay moves from its upcoming action RPG Forspoken.

The game was set to be released on 24 May but that has since been moved to 11 October in an effort to better polish the game.

And Gundam pilots take note – Gundam Evolution is coming to the PS5 and PS4 this year in a new free-to-play FPS.

PlayStation said players will be able to pilot Mobile Suits in a 6v6 objective-based combat.

A closed network test will take place soon and will include Japan and North America.

A release date for Gundam Evolution has not been announced.

And in a blast from the past, PlayStation unveiled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection!

The compilation of retro Turtles games will hit the PS4 and PS5 later this year.

And speaking of fan favourites – JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure lands on the PS4 and PS5 this fall.

2022 marks the 35th anniversary of the original story and (can you believe it) ten years since the anime was made.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R will showcase Hirohiko Araki’s distinctive art style and features 50 playable characters from all JoJo arcs.

PlayStation also dropped a trailer for Trek to Yomi, a monochromatic game about Edo Japan.

And if you’re a Kurosawa fan, you’ll definitely enjoy the atmosphere and feel of the game.

The basic premise seems to be that you’re a samurai who has to battle life and death itself to save your loved ones.

Needless to say, this was my favourite trailer out of the entire showcase and it’s expected to be released in the first half of this year.

Square Enix also took the opportunity to unveil Valkyrie Elysium – the newest entry in its Valkyrie series.

The action RPG is a standalone adventure and according to Square, features a “unique combo system” designed to test your ability to think and react.

This is the first Valkyrie game to be released since 2016.

The original, Valkyrie Profile, was released back in 1999.
