Garena has announced its Free Fire World Series for 2022 will take place in May.

Play-Ins will kick off on 14 May, with Finals scheduled for 21 May. Qualifiers for FFWS 2022 will be held across multiple regions in the coming months. So far, there’s been no details about locations.

The event will be the third edition of the title’s global tournament.

Garena had cancelled an iteration of the Free Fire World Series scheduled for this month, due to the “evolving situation” around the Covid-19 pandemic.
The last Free Fire World Series was held in Singapore in May 2021 – with Team Phoenix Force claiming the championship and the grand prize of US$500,000.

Free Fire – a battle royale game – is one of the most popular mobile games in the world. FFWS 2021 saw a record viewership of 5.4 million viewers – making it one of the most watched esports events so far.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the upcoming event too, to see if it will set a new record as well.
